The Real Realignment: Why Mamdani—and the Bernie Left—Aren’t Ready for Power
It’s not about moving to the center. It’s about moving to the Constitution. That’s the real ideological shift—and it’s already begun.
There’s a lot of buzz about Zohran Mamdani and his bold rhetoric, his rise, his fight to “fix” New York City. And maybe he is good for New York. But make no mistake: he’s not ready for national Democratic politics until he gets his head straight about one thing…
Executive power.
Mamdani and the broader Bernie/AOC adjacent left still treats power like a tool of redemption. They want the government to do the right thing, but they’re willing to place that responsibility in one man’s hands. It’s the same flawed logic that enables authoritarianism, whether it’s cloaked in fascism or socialism.
Let me be clear: I will meet anyone who seeks unilateral power with the full force of the Constitution. I don’t care if they’re a right-wing strongman or a well-meaning progressive. The American experiment was built to resist kings. That resistance applies across the aisle and ideologies.
And I know what’s coming. The Democratic Socialists are going to hate this piece. That’s fine. Because the truth is, if Mamdani loses this race, it’s not just about him—it’s about the slow death of the Bernie Bro era. It’s the end of a politics built around moral indignation and centralization.
The realignment is already happening.
You can feel it in your gut. You can see it in the polling. The working class is hungry for justice, but allergic to concentrated power. They’re not looking for a king who promises utopia. They want a system that gives them the tools to shape their own lives.
So let’s clear something up:
We’re not “moving to the center.” We’re not becoming moderates.
We’re moving to the Constitution. And that’s far more radical than anything coming out of Brooklyn’s latest DSA meeting.
This isn’t a shift in ideology—it’s a shift in application.
It’s not about what you believe. It’s about how you plan to get it done.
And if your plan involves one man wielding all the levers of government to enact your dream policies, then you’ve already lost the plot.
America doesn’t need a redeemer.
It needs a servant who will return power to Article I.
To Congress. To the people. To the democratic process.
That’s the next great leader.
You probably don’t know their name yet.
And that’s the point.
